What is LITE?

This ministry focuses on youth and young adults. LITE 2022 is a Student Gathering to be held at the 100 Centre Park Drive Johnson City, TN on August 6th, 2022 from 4:00-9:30 pm. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness for the Opioid Crisis and bring Hope to those who are struggling with Mental Health. Strengthening partnerships between agencies and churches, addressing this crisis, and provide resources for families and individuals affected by this . Our key verse for this event comes from Matthew 5:13-16. L.I.T.E means (Living. In. Truth. Everyday.) If we do this, we truly are shining the light of Christ. But to live in truth we must be connected to the living Christ which helps us be light through our connection with others. Connection is key to successful ministry and the same is true in dealing with addiction.

Our Goal

Christians have long lamented the challenge of being salt and light to the world. In the midst of persecutions, temptations, and darkness, Jesus promised us in John’s Gospel 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  History has testified to this truth as we have seen those areas of the world where faith is most resisted are the same areas that the church thrives. Darkness will never overtake the light of Christ. During this night of L.I.T.E., our key verse will be Matthew 5:13-16, being the salt and light. Our prayer is to have over 1,000 youth and young adults gather to worship Jesus under one roof. Our hope is that through this event, God will spark a mighty revival empowering this generation to be hope and change for our community and beyond.

What to expect

The worship band and speakers have agreed that not only will they take a leadership role that evening, but will also be available to personally talk with the young people gathered. A concert will follow the worship services.  This allows support for those who are in need, as well as, informing those gathered on the Opioid issues and resources. The emphasis is most importantly the opportunity to hear the gospel proclaimed. Our prayer is that those who don’t have a relationship with Jesus accept Him and that all would grow in their faith.

How you Can Get involved

There are many avenues for the congregation to participate in this ministry. We currently have opportunities to volunteer in many different ways!  Other ways to get involved are attending the event, and financial support. One of the most important ways the congregation can be involved is prayer. Praying that God moves and that His will is ultimately done through this night. Also if you would like to volunteer during this night please contact us and we will get you set up. Finally, it allows your congregation to personally build relationships with other organizations to help fight the Opioid crisis that would extend past this night into the future.

Unity is Important

Churches in our missional hub will be able to make direct contact with other churches and organizations to help better fight this Opioid crisis. Pastors within the missional hub and partnering churches will be available to pray with and council with those who wish to pray as part of the worship service. Additionally, there will be multiple tent set-ups for various organizations, ministries, and churches for support and resources. This will allow for a great number of connections between churches, organizations and ministries, so that they may be able to better support one another going forward. This event also allows ministries to come together to shine a Light on the current ongoing issue of Opioid use.
